News at Last!

My weather pixie has a Christmas tree!

Soon, she will have a palm tree because . . .

We are moving to South Carolina!

After a very stressful 6 weeks or so since my last entry, I have a post-doctoral job. I've been looking for a post-doc for 10 months, so as you might imagine I was getting pretty crazed. Not only do I have a job, but I couldn't be more pleased with the position. We'll move sometime in January. In the meantime, I'm working like crazy in my dissertation and inspiring myself every morning by looking at photos of apartment complexes with glistening aquamarine pools on rent.com. Summertime, and the livin is easy.

I bought the "honeydew" color Blue Sky Alpacas worsted cotton, after a year of admiring it on every visit to Knitorious, since I will be needing cotton sweaters.

I have photos to post later this week after some blocking. Not much knitting progress has gone on. My silver bamboo wrap-sweater turned out to be the most unflattering thing since leggings (on a par with the Lotus Lace Disaster of '06). I have no one to blame but myself this time because I designed it. I've finished the back of the re-design, which is a V neck shaped pullover like the Sizzle Success, but with bell sleeves and a lattice pattern below the bust. I won't work on it more until after the move. In the meantime I am working on going-away presents for my co-workers and going-to-be-very-late Christmas presents. There are 3 hats, 2 scarfs, 1 handwarmer, and 6 pairs of socks to knit. That will keep me occupied for the next 2 months or so. I'm not doing any 9 sts=1" men's socks this year.
